It's Just The Beginning

If you enjoy R&B music then you are going to enjoy this new mixtape by female artist Kehlani. Kehlani released her mixtape “While We Wait” on February 21st as a teaser for what is to come for her album. This mixtape is comprised of nine new songs including Footsteps, Too Deep, Nunya, Morning Glory, Feels, Nights Like This, RPG, Butterfly and Love Language. It also included features from artist like Musiq Soulchild, Dom Kennedy, Ty Dolla $ign and 6lack. From this mixtape my favorites are Nunya and Too Deep, but they are not my only favorite songs at the moment. Here are some of the songs that I have currently been into.

1)      Sucker - Jonas Brothers
-        The boys are back! We know the Jonas Brothers from back in the early 2000’s when they were Disney heartthrobs. They took a break as a band and each brother went on to have their own careers but, about six years later they are making coming back and I couldn't be more excited. Their new single “Sucker” is about how they want a person so bad that they would go to any length for them with their music video featuring their beautiful significant others. This upbeat pop song is a perfect way to get back into the music scene but still keeps their Jonas Brothers sound.

    2)      Waiting – KIAN
     -  KIAN is a sixteen year Australian singer songwriter who is actually most known for his “Waiting” .This song in particular has almost thirty million steams on Spotify and has easily become one of my favorite songs. This song talks about the feeling of uncertainty when you don’t know if a person likes you back or not, which is a feeling that everyone goes through at some point in their lives.

3) Bury a Friend - Billie Eilish
-        Bury a Friend is Billie’s newest single released on January 30th. Billie Eilish is a seventeen years singer songwriter, who put out her first single “Ocean Eyes” when she was thirteen years old. According to one of Billie’s interview, she states that “Bury a Friend” is written in perspective of her monster under her bed. The song talks about the confusing relationship she has with the monster and how she may be the monster. Like most of her songs, her brother FINNEAS, who is also a singer-songwriter, produced and co- wrote this song.

    4)      365 - Zedd and Katy Perry
       -      We haven’t have really heard from Katy Perry in the last couple of years, but she is back with a great collaboration with Zedd. This poppy, upbeat song talks about a person who wants to be with the person that they love every day of the year. There is such a strong love for this person that they can never get enough.

5) Just You and I - Tom Walker
-        Tom Walker is a newer artist that I have found but his music is amazing. Tom Walker is a Scottish indie singer- songwriter. His rise to fame was after his song “Leave a Lights On” was released in 2018. “Just You and I” was released this year on January 11th and is a reflection of the love that is has for his future wife. He knows that when they are together, they can conquer anything.

A Blast from the Past

We all enjoy the new music that seems to come out every week, but do you ever take the time to revisit some of the hits from past. Over the years there have been many hits and anthems that we sometimes forget about them. They’ve ranged from hip hop and rap, to R&B to pop and much more. It’s good to take a walk down memory lane every now and then and listen to a few of the old songs that made you feel something. With that being said, here are a couple of some of my throwback hits. 1)       Find Your Love - Drake -         Aubrey Graham better known as Drake is a Canadian rapper, singer, actor, songwriter, producer, and entrepreneur. Drake gained is rise to fame through acting on a teenage drama series, Degrassi: The Next Generation. “Find Your Love” is single from his debut album Thank Me Later that was released May 5 th 2010. This track is the thirteenth song on the album, and produced by Kanye West. This song talks ...

New Year, New Music

It’s a new year and for most people this equals a fresh start to their lives. People tend start going to the gym again, switch up their diets to become healthier and incorporate new habits that benefit their overall health. However, a new year also means that there will be new music from our favorite artists coming out as well. The start of 2019 did not disappoint, giving us new singles from Ariana Grande, Sam Smith and Normani, Lauren Jauregui, Dua Lipa, and more. Music has always been a method to bring people together and has a long history of creating an energy that makes people feel something. Since music is a big part of my life and the lives of many others, here are my top five songs at the moment. 1)       Glory Sound Prep Album - Jon Bellion -         Although this first mention is not a song, I personally could not pick a song from this album that would be considered my favorite. Jon Bellion is a talented arti...
