Solange is back! We know Solange as Beyoncé’s sister but she
is also a singer, songwriter, record producer and actress. This year she has
released her first album in three years called “When I Get Home”. This albums
contains nineteen tracks including “Things I Imagined”, “Down with the Clique”,
“Dreams”, “Sound of Rain” and her single “Almeda”. With new music come favorite songs, so here
are my top five songs at the moment.
1)
Last Hurrah- Bebe Rexha
-
Bebe Rexha is an American singer-song writer and
record producer. She has assisted in the song writing process for many artists
like Selena Gomez and Nick Jonas. Her newest single “Last Hurrah” was released on
February 15th as a promo for her upcoming album. BeBe Rexha’s message
behind “Last Hurrah” is saying that this is going to be the last night of doing
everything that is wrong or bad for her. She tweeted that this song was
inspired by her friend who was supposed to be on a diet and her husband caught
her eating cake. When he asked about the diet she said that is her last hurrah.
2)
Never Go Back- Dennis Lloyd

3)
Almost (Sweet Music)- Hozier
-
Hozier is an Irish musician, singer and songwriter.
He is known for his songs including “Take Me To Church” and “Work Song”. Hozier’s
most recently released song “Almost (Sweet Music)” was dropped on January 16th
along with a music video announcement for his album “Wasteland, Bay!” which included
the track list and the release date. “Almost (Sweet Music)” is a song to pay respect
to many of the great jazz artist that came before him and even referenced some
them within the song itself.
4)
Rule the World- 2 Chainz and Ariana Grande

-
Netsky is a Belgian musician, producer and DJ. I
personally had not heard of him until this song appeared on my playlist. This song
features the Bazzi, an American singer-songwriter known for his songs “Mine”
and “Beautiful” and the world known Lil Wayne. The song talks about the feeling
that you get when you feel that they person that you love and know has changed
into a person that you don’t even recognize. Ironically, this was released on
Valentine’s Day this year which contrasts the lyrics of this song.
