Free Spirit and Good Music

Khalid has released his second studio album titled Free Spirit on April 5th of this year. This album consist of seventeen tracks including an intro, "Bad Luck", "My Bad, Better", "Talk", "Right Back" , "Don’t Pretend", "Paradise", "Hundred", "Outta My Head", "Free Spirit", "Twenty One", "Bluffin’", "Self", "Alive", "Heaven", and "Saturday Night". Khalid recently dropped this album and it has now become the number one album on Billboard 200. He not only released an amazing album, but he also drop a short film that incorporated some of the songs from his album on his YouTube channel that has gotten also most two hundred thousand views. I’ve really liked his album, but that’s not all that I have been listening to. Here are a few of my favorite song at the moment.
1)      My Bad – Khalid
-        My Bad is a new single off of Khalid’s latest studio album Free Spirit that was released on March 7th of this year. A fun fact about this song is that it was actually written in ten minutes.  He heard the beat for the song and went into the studio and freestyle this song that can get suck in your head as soon as you hear it. The meaning behind this song is very similar to his single “Talk” that he released earlier this year, where he and his partner are having trouble with communication in his relationship. However, in this song the problems seem to be getting worse and Khalid is starting to get frustrated by the situation.
2)      Ex - Kiana Ledé
-        Kiana Ledé is a 22 year old American singer, songwriter, actress, and pianist. Ex is the forth track on her EP Selfless that she released in July of last year. In this song Kiana is singing about how she wants to be friends with her ex. When you are so close to a person and had love for them while you were in a relationship with them, how can you just let those feelings go and pretend it never happened. She is basically saying that she does want to be strangers with her past lover and still want to be friends.
3)      Bad Guy - Billie Eilish
-        Bad Guy is one of Billie Eilish’s hits from her first studio album that was released March 29th of this year. This is a playful, fun and bass-filled song in which she is taunting her significant other, and expressing her own tough matter while also questioning the nature of her lover’s toughness. In the music video for this song, Billie is just having fun. There are lots for colors dancing and not taking things too seriously which ties into the vibe of the song.
4)      Don’t Pretend- Khalid and SAFE
-        Don’t Pretend is the seventh track on Khalid’s second studio album. This song has a mellow and chill sound to it that can put you into a relaxing state. The meaning behind this song is about insecurities of being in a relationship with a person who isn’t as in it as you are. He wants them to really be there and committed, not pretend just for the sake of being in a relationship.
5)      Lost in Japan -  Shawn Mendes
-        Lost in Japan is one of the top singles from Shawn Mendes’ self-titled album Shawn Mendes that was released in March of last year. This poppy and groovy song topped the charts and made many fall in love with the song. So much so that he did a remix with electronic DJ Zedd that was also a hit. This song displays the love and commitment to his significant others while him expressing his desire to travel across the word just to see them.

A Blast from the Past

We all enjoy the new music that seems to come out every week, but do you ever take the time to revisit some of the hits from past. Over the years there have been many hits and anthems that we sometimes forget about them. They’ve ranged from hip hop and rap, to R&B to pop and much more. It’s good to take a walk down memory lane every now and then and listen to a few of the old songs that made you feel something. With that being said, here are a couple of some of my throwback hits. 1)       Find Your Love - Drake -         Aubrey Graham better known as Drake is a Canadian rapper, singer, actor, songwriter, producer, and entrepreneur.
